The Huff and Puff Race
On Thursday afternoon we had the Junior Syndicate Huff and Puff Race. We felt really excited because we had been training for weeks. We all had lots of fun and we all tried our very best to run as fast as we could. We think that we are all super stars for completing the race! Thank you parents and friends for coming and cheering us on!
Planting Seeds
As part of 5+ a Day Month we have planted parsley seeds. First of all we put the soil into the pot, then we made a little hole and put the seeds in. After that we covered the seeds with soil and watered them. We have put our pots onto the window sill in the sun and we are watering them each day. We are feeling really excited because our seeds are starting to grow into seedlings.

A Visit From The Firefighters
We had a wonderful day on Tuesday because the Firefighters from Takapuna Fire Station came to visit us. We learnt that: Matches and lighters are tools and if we find them we should always give them to an adult. A candle should be put into a safe holder so that it does not cause a fire. We need to have smoke alarms in our house. You can not hear a fire if you are asleep. If there is a fire we need to shout " Fire, Fire, Fire". We need to get down, get low and get out fast. When we are outside we need to go to a safe meeting place, then call 111 and tell the operator that there is a fire. We really enjoyed practicing getting down, getting low and getting out.

Special Persons Day
This week we made beautiful flower cards to invite a special person to school on Thursday the 19th of September at 11.20 -12.30pm. We are going to make sand saucers in the morning of that day to show to our special visitor. We are also going to perform some of the folk dances that we have learnt during the term.
The Big Sad Wolf
On Friday we went to a fantastic show called the Big Sad Wolf. It was about a wolf who always got blamed for things that he did not do like: Eating sheep, trying to trick Little Red Riding Hood and blowing the Little Pigs houses down. At the end of the show The Big Sad Wolf and the Royal Huntsman found out that the judge was the boy who cried wolf.

The Tinderbox Show
On Tuesday we had a visit from The Toyman. His name was Richard. He brought in to our school lots and lots of old fashioned toys. There were spinning tops, jack in the boxes, ball and cups, puppets, peg dolls, hen pickers, climbing men and an amazing marble run. We learnt that old toys often moved using string, they did not use batteries or electricity, they were not made out of plastic and they were often made for children by their mothers and fathers. We really loved having time to play with all of the fabulous toys.
