Swimming

We have learnt how to hold our boards properly, how to blow bubbles and kick.

We have all become so much more confident in the water. Here we are practicing our kicking.
We have had a great time using our school swimming pool over the last few weeks. We have been learning how to blow bubbles, kick with a flutter board and glide. Next Thursday the 7th of March at 1.35pm we will be having our Junior Syndicate Swimming Carnival and we would love it if you could come and watch us. The races will be a running race, a race where we blow a ball down the pool, a flutter board race and a gliding race. Some children will also take part in a freestyle race.

Belonging to Groups

Look at part of our display. We are enjoying reading each others work about the different groups that we belong to.

This week we have been learning about belonging to groups and what makes us unique. We really enjoyed colouring in our flowers, bees and snails and then selecting sentences that applied to us about the groups that we belong to. We have found out that in some ways we are the same and and in some ways that are different.

A Visit From Liquorice

Isn't Liquorice just gorgeous. She is so soft and fluffy. Here is Maia giving her a cuddle.

We are looking at Liquorice in her cage. She loved hopping around are classroom.

Today was a really exciting day because Maia brought in her pet rabbit Liquorice into visit. We had to be really quiet so that Liquorice would not be scared. Maia told that us that she gave Liquorice her name because she is black just like a liquorice strap. We learnt that she eats carrots, broccoli and leaves. Sometimes she has escaped from Maia's back garden and has eaten the vegetables in the neighbour's garden!!

We are really excited about being in Room 15 and have all made a fabulous start to the year!
Our first topic is Kotahitanga - Getting on Together. We are learning about how to be
great class members and the importance of sharing and being kind to each other.

Quinn, Ashton and Gurjot are building with the lego together.

We are also learning about class routines and where to put our belongings in the classroom. Henry, Christine and Maia are putting their book bags away.
